Dishwasher Drain Pump Fix

The Challenge

Two Inches of Water, Zero Drainage

The dishwasher finished every cycle sitting in dirty water and smelling musty. The drain pump motor had burned out after a glass shard jammed the impeller — a common, quick fix once correctly diagnosed.

  • Burned-out drain pump from a jammed impeller.
  • Partially blocked drain hose compounding the fault.

The Fix

What We Did

  1. Cleared and confirmed the fault

Removed the shard, tested the pump — motor dead, housing intact.

  2. Fitted a genuine pump and hose

New pump plus a cleared, reseated drain hose with a proper high loop.

  3. Ran a full hot cycle empty

Bone-dry tub at the end; filters cleaned and customer shown the routine.

Result

Complete drainage, fresh-smelling tub and a quieter wash — fixed in under an hour for the price of a family takeaway.
