Front-Load Drum & Bearing Rebuild

The Challenge

A Spin Cycle Like a Jet Engine

The washer shook across the laundry room and roared on spin — classic collapsed drum bearings plus tired shock absorbers. At six years old with a premium direct-drive motor, the machine was absolutely worth saving.

  • Rough, noisy bearings with play in the drum spider.
  • Worn shocks letting the tub slam the cabinet.

The Fix

What We Did

  1. Stripped and inspected the tub

Confirmed the spider arm was intact — rebuild approved instead of replacement.

  2. Pressed new bearings and seal

Genuine bearing kit with a new tub seal to keep water off the bearings.

  3. Replaced shocks and re-levelled

New shock absorbers, feet levelled, then a full 1400rpm test spin.

Result

Whisper-quiet spin, zero movement across the floor, and an estimated five more years of service — for less than a third of a comparable new machine.
